Case study
Signal Tracker
An AI-powered intelligence desk that scans online communities in real time, surfaces high-intent buying signals, drafts on-brand replies, and ships a daily digest of leads to indie founders. Setup in under a minute.
Overview
Signal Tracker is a community-led growth tool for founders who would rather answer the right post than send another cold email. It crawls the rooms where customers actually live — Reddit threads, niche forums, public communities — classifies every conversation by buying intent, and surfaces the high-signal ones in a daily digest.
For each conversation, the platform drafts on-brand, non-spammy reply variants and a handful of post ideas to follow up with. The result is a working desk: a small CRM where threads, drafts, and outreach state all live in one place.
Challenge
Cold outreach is dying — open rates trend down every quarter and B2B response rates have collapsed since 2024. Founders who want pipeline have to be where customers already are, but the manual work of monitoring twenty subreddits and a dozen forums is a full-time job nobody has time to do.
Existing “social listening” tools are built for enterprise marketing teams: priced for them, designed for them, and overkill for an indie founder who needs ten good leads a week, not ten thousand mentions a month.
Solution
We built Signal Tracker to compress the entire community-led growth loop into a single tool an indie founder can run in fifteen minutes a day:
- 60-second setup. Describe your product in one sentence. The model generates a starter keyword set; the scanner picks up.
- Intent classification. Every matched thread is scored on a 0.0–1.0 spectrum: pure question, comparison shopping, looking-for-tool, ready-to-buy. Founders see only what’s worth seeing.
- AI reply suggestions. Three tonally distinct, source-aware reply drafts per thread. Tuned to read like a useful comment, never like an ad.
- Post idea generator. Six prompt families — pain points, customer stories, contrarian tips, comparisons, follow-ups, behind-the-scenes — for founders who want to seed conversations as well as join them.
- Lead pipeline CRM. A lightweight kanban with status, notes, and links back to the source thread.
- Daily digest. A morning briefing email summarising the highest-intent conversations from the last 24 hours.
Tech Stack
- Frontend: Next.js + React with TypeScript and a token-driven Tailwind design system
- Backend: Node services with PostgreSQL (Neon), background workers, and a credit-metered API
- AI: Anthropic Claude for classification and reply generation, with provider abstraction for failover
- Ingestion: Reddit API + scheduled crawlers, normalized into a unified conversation schema
- Billing: Stripe subscriptions with credit top-ups and yearly upgrades
- Hosting: Vercel (frontend + edge functions)
Results
- One-minute onboarding from product description to first scan
- High-precision intent scoring validated against founder feedback and manually curated test sets
- Provider-abstracted AI layer so prompt and model upgrades roll out without breaking client integrations
- Subscription + credit billing that handles trials, monthly, yearly, and top-up flows
- Production from day one — open for sign-ups at signal.codercops.com
